Acacia Offers Laser Therapy for Pet Pain Relief Acacia Animal Health Center is pleased to offer low-level laser therapy for our patients in pain. Laser therapy is an FDA-approved treatment that reduces inflammation and results in pain reduction. These treatments are effective in pets with injuries, acute pain, chronic conditions, and post-operative pain. It can also be used for immune stimulation and the treatment of various internal medical conditions ranging from allergies and organ dysfunction, such as liver and kidney disease, to endocrine diseases, seizures, and cancer. How Laser Therapy Works Laser therapy treatment is safe, painless, and fast, stimulating the body to heal from within. Non-thermal photons of light are administered to the body and absorbed by the injured cells. The stimulated cells experience an increase in circulation causing an anti-inflammatory reaction, relief from pain, and improved healing. As the laser is applied, relief is apparent almost immediately. Pets appear comfortable and relaxed, and may even fall asleep during treatments. Treatments are relatively brief, about 5 to 10 minutes each session. Despite short treatment times, laser therapy continues to reduce inflammation for up to 24 hours after treatment. Typically, patients demonstrate improvement after three to five treatment sessions. Frequency Specific, Low-Level Laser Therapy Not all lasers are created equal and all lasers are not for pain. Because every cell in your body has a photoreceptor, every cell can respond to laser treatment. The laser Acacia uses, the Erchonia Base station laser, has more than 10,000 programmable frequencies that allow us to treat almost an endless list of disease conditions.
